Last One Out, Please Turn Off the Lights

In The Spirit of Vatican II...just kidding.

But it IS time for a change. I've decided to dismantle the whole Evil Traditionalist machine. That's right, the lair, the League, the whole shabang, it's all getting mothballed, and we're moving on to bigger and better things.

Over the past few weeks, the discussions on restoration have prompted me to think more seriously about what we're doing and how we can be more effective. For the first time in a long time, I'm excited about the potential we have as writers to help shape, or at least report on, the developments that are underway in the Church. And there's evidence that this idea has legs. (Welcome to all of you coming from Beliefnet, by the way. You'll find the link to the new blog just below.)

This change is transformative, not terminal. I am simply building on what we've started over the past two years and taking it to the next level.

I'm confident that this is the right move. I've created a new webring for a new group. It's called "Catholic Restorationists." It lacks some of the panache of the current title, but it's right to the point. I don't want to waste any more time or squander any more credibility on the EvilTrad joke any longer. It's time to grow up and move on. There have been times, let me tell you, when the whole affair felt far too much like this for my liking:

My own blog, as you might expect, is changing as well. I've decided not only to leave blogger, but to create a new name. There's been a book idea banging around in my head for years but so far I've not made nearly as much progress on the book as the title. So I decided to use it now, and if the book comes, it comes.

It's called Uncovering Orthodoxy: A Young Catholic Discovers Tradition. My philosophy on why it was time to leave the League of Evil Traditionalists behind can be found at the new site, in the "about" section.

I've finally completed something I've been promising to the League members for years: a charter and guidelines for membership. This should help us to facilitate the process of bringing in new members and making sure that everyone knows what we're about from the get-go. If you think you have something to offer to this discussion then you can apply to the webring. I'm notoriously picky, but don't let it discourage you.

And I suppose with that, I'm off.

Last one out, please turn off the lights.
